Gejtu Vella

Gejtu Vella, formerly employed in the hospitality industry, joined the UHM as a member in the early 1980s. He was later called to sit on the Executive Committee of the Private Sector Section. In 1989 Gejtu Vella was appointed the first Secretary for the Hotels, Food and Beverages Section. He also became a General Council member of the Union. In 1998 he became the Secretary General of the UHM.

Mr Vella represented the UHM on various boards including the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, the Malta European Union Steering Action Committee, the Employment Relations Board and the Foundation for Human Resources Development. Presently Gejtu Vella represents the UHM on the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development. Gejtu Vella has actively participated in various conferences and public debates both locally and abroad.
